Omotola explained that her symptoms began while preparing her films. She was rushed to the ER twice that week for intense pain, and doctors checked her for high blood pressure and acid reflux. After her second visit, she was sent home to manage the pain, which went away.
After the Gladiator II screening, things got worse. She said, “I threw up all night until there was nothing left. By morning, I had terrible stomach pain and had to go to the ER again – the third time. This time, they did a CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI. The doctors told me I needed surgery to remove my gallbladder. It was so swollen, they couldn’t believe I wasn’t in more pain. More pain?!
