Eedris Abdulkareem’s new song, Tell Your Papa, will get no broadcast by media houses. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) instructed all radio and television stations across Nigeria to stop airing the song. The commission cited a breach of broadcast standards, labeling the track unfit for public transmission.

In an official memo dated April 9, 2025, the NBC declared the song as ‘Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB)’. The Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, signed the memo under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. The section restricts the airing of content considered offensive, inappropriate, or against public decency.

The Commission has identified the song by Abdulkareem, currently trending on social media, as content deemed inappropriate for broadcast due to its objectionable nature.

Although the song has gained traction online and sparked conversations, the NBC insists its lyrics don’t align with standards. The commission urged all stations to comply immediately.

The notice, titled “Restriction on Broadcasting ‘Tell Your Papa’ by Eedris”, reinforces the commission’s stance on ethical broadcasting and warns stations against airing content that may undermine those principles.

Eedris Abdulkareem, known for his bold, politically charged music, has not yet responded publicly to the ban. However, speculation among fans suggests that the track’s lyrical content may have touched on sensitive political or societal issues—something the rapper has never shied away from since his breakout anthem Jaga Jaga.
