Movie star Omotola Jalade Ekeinde shared a difficult experience on Instagram after undergoing emergency surgery. She described feeling severe back and chest pain, constant vomiting, and intense stomach discomfort. The problems started while she was busy working on her films and attending the Academy Voting Members’ screening of Gladiator II.
Despite her excitement for the event, Omotola struggled to stay upright during the screening as her symptoms worsened, making it difficult to maintain her health. She described her recovery as a “fight for her life” and reflected on the fragility of life. Omotola encouraged her followers to join her in giving thanks to God for the gift of good health.
In her post, Omotola Jalade wrote, “Happy Thanksgiving! Please join me in thanking God for life and health. (My first post didn’t go up, so this one isn’t as passionate as the first one.)”
Reflecting on her health crisis, she asked, “Have you ever been told by a doctor, ‘There’s nothing more we can do,’ but still felt like you were dying?” The deterioration of her health pushed her to the brink, but she later found strength in sharing her journey with her followers.
Omotola explained that her symptoms began while preparing her films. She was rushed to the ER twice that week for intense pain, and doctors checked her for high blood pressure and acid reflux. After her second visit, she was sent home to manage the pain, which went away.
After the Gladiator II screening, things got worse. She said, “I threw up all night until there was nothing left. By morning, I had terrible stomach pain and had to go to the ER again – the third time. This time, they did a CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI. The doctors told me I needed surgery to remove my gallbladder. It was so swollen, they couldn’t believe I wasn’t in more pain. More pain?!
Omotola’s health crisis escalated to such an extent that alternative options were no longer viable. As her symptoms worsened rapidly, the doctor’s prescribed treatment became the only solution left. The threat of the life-threatening challenge was so immediate and intense that she had no choice but to trust the medical advice, fully aware that her survival depended on it.
